My name is Rachel and I've been working in publishing for over fifteen years as a passionate advocate for great storytelling. I began my career at independent publishing houses, commissioning commercial fiction, literary debuts, and high-concept non-fiction, before joining Kingswell Press to build our editorial and manuscript development practice.
Over that time I've worked with authors from every background imaginable: first-timers who had never shared a page with anyone, seasoned professionals looking for a sharper editorial eye, and international writers navigating English-language publishing for the first time. Each manuscript is a world of its own, and I treat it that way.
My approach focuses on the story underneath the story: the structural logic, the emotional spine, the voice. I help authors discover what their book is really about so they can make every word count. I'm equally comfortable working at the big-picture developmental stage or deep in line-by-line copyediting, and I love the full journey from rough draft to final proof.
I write regularly about craft, publishing industry trends, and what it takes to get a manuscript market-ready. You'll find all of those articles below.
